Kompong Thom

A picturesque town on the banks of the Stung Saen River - Kompong Thom is the capital of Cambodia's second largest province by area which used to be called Kompong Pous Thom which means “Port of the Great Snake”, Kompong Thom is the the old capital of Chenla, a kingdom preceding the Angkorian era, now you can see the ruins of the kingdom as the temples of Sambor Prei Kuk. Although the temples here are not as well known as the Angkor Temples in Siem Reap, they offer a different story; different feelings to those who are interested in discover ancient kingdoms in Cambodia in the past and making it well worth a visit the amazing past it has to offer.
