A picturesque town on the banks of the Stung Saen River - Kompong Thom is the capital of Cambodia's second largest province by area which used to be called Kompong Pous Thom which means “Port of the Great Snake”, Kompong Thom is the the old capital of Chenla, a kingdom preceding the Angkorian era, now you can see the ruins of the kingdom as the temples of Sambor Prei Kuk.
