During a trip to Cambodia, you will doubtlessly spend at least a few nights in Siem Reap, the town closest to the ruins of Angkor Wat. The country’s tourist capital, Siem Reap, offers plenty of diversions, including a beautiful blend of Chinese and French colonial architecture, a number of museums, a cultural village, and more.

There are plenty of appealing options for where to stay in Siem Reap. Below, we take you on a tour of top hotels in Siem Reap, and what makes each of them special.

With its French art deco style, its beautiful white façade, and its eye-catching red tile roof, this magnificent resort will instantly catch your attention. The Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor is a historic accommodation dating back to 1932. While it features all the modern amenities you need to stay in comfort, its classic style has become one of its timeless attributes, connecting you with history during your stay. Wander 15 acres of tropical gardens, dine at any of five restaurants and bars, or enjoy a toxic-cleanse body wrap, Khmer herbal scrub, or hydrotherapy wellness treatment at the spa.

The resort offers a wide range of unique experiences to guests as well, such as the Reflections of Angkor photography tour, the Siem Reap Art Tour, or a trip to the Elephants of Angkor sanctuary.

3. Shinta Mani Angkor and Bensley Collection Pool Villas

Stars: 5
Special features: Private villas and pools, philanthropy and sustainability

Another of the best hotels in Siem Reap is Shinta Mani Angkor and Bensley Collection Pool Villas. Located in the French Quarter, it was designed by architect Bill Bensley.

What makes this resort experience extra special and unique is that you can stay in a villa with a private pool. There are ten in total, all surrounded by gorgeous gardens. Each one features handcrafted light fittings, custom furnishings, and artwork depicting Khmer folklore.

Since the resort opened, it has been involved with training and employing underprivileged Cambodians. The Shinta Mani Foundation also provides loans to local small business startups. The foundation’s other activities involve projects in healthcare and sustainable agriculture.

When you stay in one of the villas, you can look forward to world-class service from a personal butler, daily free breakfast for two, a bottle of wine, seasonal fruits, complimentary laundry, and more. This resort also features a spa and a selection of adventures and tours.

4. Amansara

Stars: 5
Special features: Cultural and wellness activities, remork transportation

When you stay at Amansara, you will be only ten minutes from Angkor Wat. A stay at this resort is a way to truly pamper yourself and live like royalty because it was once a residence for King Sihanouk’s guests. Your room at Amansara features a bedroom, living area, and bathroom, along with a private garden courtyard and reflection pool. Depending on the room type you choose, you may have a private plunge pool as well.

Included are luxuries such as two daily meals, an afternoon tea, and transportation throughout Siem Reap via ‘remork’. The price of your stay also includes daily guided tours of Angkor Wat, as well as access to a truly remarkable range of activities and amenities at the resort.

Whether you want to listen to a cultural lecture or you would like to experience a Buddhist water blessing, you can do it at Amansara. You can also try forest bathing, walking meditations, go for a private cruise or tour, relax at the spa, or swim in the 25-meter lap pool.

5. Zannier Hotels Phum Baitang

Stars: 5
Special features: Family-friendly activities and amenities

The next of our recommendations for where to stay in Siem Reap is Zannier Hotels Phum Baitang. At this resort, guests stay in villas up on stilts. While they have a rustic look that calls to mind the architecture of traditional Khmer homes, they feature air conditioning and modern amenities. The more premium rooms feature private plunge pools and/or private terraces.

While the ambiance at Zannier Hotels Phum Baitang is incredible, the activities make this resort extra special. It is a particularly wonderful choice for staying with a family, as you can take cooking classes or go on bicycle rides together. There is even a Kids Club that features games, activities, hands-on rice harvesting, and cultural education.

6. Angkor Grace Residence & Wellness Resort

Special features: Spa treatments, yoga and mindfulness sessions, and other wellness features and activities

For a resort that puts an emphasis on wellness and healing, book a stay at the sustainable Angkor Grace Residence & Wellness Resort. 7. Mane Boutique Hotel & Spa

Stars: 5
Special features: Wellness and spa center, babysitting

Mane Boutique Hotel & Spa is a beautiful resort with an inspiring story behind it. It is named after its founder, Mane, who wanted to create a business that her children could inherit. Her vision was to provide her guests with the same dedicated care that she would her own family, and to incorporate Khmer culture into the design and décor of the hotel.

As you would expect, the richness of tradition suffuses every inch of this accommodation. You get to stay in a terrace or pool villa with a design reminiscent of stilted Khmer farmhouses. Each village is surrounded by greenery, offering a relaxing, quiet, secluded atmosphere. Guests can enjoy pocket gardens and a saltwater pool.

The hotel’s spa is called the “Spa Temple.” The name is an ode to its architecture, which is based on Angkor Wat, as well as the traditional treatments and rituals it offers.

A service that sets Mane apart is babysitting. If you need someone to watch your children for a bit so you can go do an activity on your own, Mane can ensure your children stay safe and entertained.

8. Le Meridien Angkor Siem Reap

Stars: 5
Special features: Weddings, meetings, and events

If you want to stay as close as possible to Angkor Wat, then you should think about booking a stay at another of our favorite hotels in Siem Reap, Le Meridien Angkor. Situated impressively near the ancient site, this resort unites colonial architecture with Khmer influences for a pleasing fusion of styles.

Le Meridien Angkor offers less in the way of on-site experiences and activities and puts a stronger focus on hosting events and groups. If you are planning a wedding or a corporate event, Le Meridien Angkor is the premier destination. That said, with its pools, fitness center and spa, it is still a relaxing choice for any traveler in Siem Reap.

9. Park Hyatt Siem Reap

Stars: 5
Special features: Golf course, authentic cuisine and entertainment

Previously on our list of where to stay in Siem Reap, we shared the Shinta Mani Angkor and Bensley Collection Pool Villas in the French Quarter, designed by Bill Bensley. Another Bensley-designed resort you can stay at in Siem Reap is the lovely Park Hyatt. The hotel’s architecture is an intriguing blend of Khmer and Art Deco with modern influences. The resort features two swimming pools; the one on the ground floor has a particularly distinctive design and unique atmosphere.

As with the other resorts we have recommended, Park Hyatt Siem Reap works hard to be sustainable and to honor the cultural heritage of Cambodia. While you are staying here, you can dine on delicious authentic cuisine and watch a traditional Apsara dance show. Other fun activities include cycling and playing at the Angkor Golf Resort 18-hole course.

10. Anantara Angkor Resort

Stars: 5
Special features: Bespoke tours

One more fantastic resort to stay at when you are visiting Siem Reap is Antara Angkor Resort. You should especially think about booking at this hotel if you want help reserving personalized VIP tours of the town and the surrounding destinations. When you stay at Antara, you will be assigned a personal Experience Builder who will work with you one-on-one to ensure that you have the best possible experience.
