Chau Doc

Located on the border of Vietnam and Cambodia, this region was once part of Cambodia until Vietnam claimed it some 300 years ago. Given its location and history it brings a diverse history alive, fusing together the Vietnamese cultures and beliefs together with the Cambodian. Which creates an incredible fusion of two countries and the three cultures Vietnamese, Khmer and Champa all together. In modern times, Chau Doc has become a busy and important trading city and has a vibrant atmosphere for you to enjoy. Away from the city you can enjoy the peaceful and enjoyable surroundings of Tra Su bird sanctuary where in the right season you can paddle around the Mekong by small rowing boat and admire this remarkable and tranquil place. Or you can take time to visit Chau Phu Temple a lasting monument to the Nguyen Dynasty.
