What do you say about a private guided tour that covers all the beauty and the differences of the North and South of Vietnam? Discover what makes this country so special and intriguing. Here we offer you deep insight into variations of culture, lifestyle and even the people.
Welcome to Saigon, the most dynamic cultural hub of Southern Vietnam. After checking in at your hotel, the rest of the day is for you to spend as you wish.
Today, you will enjoy a joining trip exploring Cu Chi Tunnels with totally new experiences, by boat! Embark on your speed boat from Ho Chi Minh City’s pier; your English-speaking guide will introduce you to life along the banks of the Saigon River as your boat gracefully slips through knots of floating water hyacinths on this scenic one-hour boat trip. After a short documentary, your guide will lead you through the historic Cu Chi Tunnels, dug by resourceful guerrilla fighters to provide communication and supply routes, hospitals, food and weapon caches and living quarters during numerous conflicts. A traditional Vietnamese lunch of local specialties like lemongrass chicken and caramelized clay pot pork will be served after your visit to the tunnels.
Once back in the city, take a stroll to major sights such as the colonial Notre Dame Cathedral, the Old Saigon Post Office, the Opera House, Dong Khoi Street and more. After that, visit the Emperor of Jade Pagoda OR Fito Museum - the first private museum in Vietnam, where you will discover many documents and information about traditional Vietnamese medicine.
In the evening, you’ll take a scooter ride through this hectic but beautiful metropolis to discover how Ho Chi Minh City nightlife unfolds and taste some local Vietnamese street food.
In the morning you will depart from Ho Chi Minh City to explore Ben Tre in the Mekong delta, also known as the “Green Venice” of Vietnam. After visiting a brick factory in Phong Nam where bricks are still hand-made, step onto a boat for a cruise along the Chet Say river. You will make several stops along the way to discover different local workshops, allowing you to understand better the specialities of the local economy. The boat will then cross a small canal and stop at a small village, where you will continue your discovery of the delta by visiting a workshop specializing in carpet-weaving. You will even be able to try this activity yourself, before hopping in a xe loi (a kind of motorized rickshaw) or on a bicycle to wander around the village. You will see traditional farms, rice fields and vegetable plants, before stopping at a small local restaurant to taste a delicious (and generous) lunch made of regional specialties, such as “elephant-ear fish” and freshwater shrimps.
In the afternoon you will get back on the sampan for some leisure time along the narrow canals. You will travel back to Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City by car to take your late afternoon flight to Danang.
In the early morning, visit a local fish market, along the Thu Bon River. It is ideal to wander through these streets by foot or ride around on a bike. You can see a different picture of Hoi An with very few tourists and shops open. Take a boat trip along the Thu Bon river to enjoy the quite atmosphere on this poetic river before trying a local breakfast of Hoi An at a local restaurant.
After that, you will ride your bicycles into the Cam Thanh countryside, you will ride across the plains of flooded rice fields and have the opportunity to observe picturesque scenes of the local's daily life with a background of verdant countryside. After arriving at the local boat pier, you will board a boat to the seaport of Cua Dai, at the mouth of the Thu Bon River, which runs through Hoi An. You're going to paddle out in “basket boats” into the mangrove forest and try to maneuver the boat yourself. You will have lunch with local dishes that are carefully prepared by the fishermen at a local family’s house afterwards.
In the afternoon, you visit Hoi An Ancient Town - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The place offers you a glimpse into what a Southeast Asian trade center looked like hundreds of years ago. Meander down narrow lanes framed by many old houses and see local people trading at the market, visit the famous Japanese Bridge, the Chinese Temple and Tan Ky Trading House. Discover the harmony of Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese and French architectural elements in this fascinating town.
You have the whole day to discover Hoi An, in any way you see fit.
After breakfast, you'll be transferred to Danang Airport for your morning flight to Hanoi.
Today, you will have lunch at the very authentic Viet cuisine restaurant then continue your day with a visit to the Temple of Literature - the “First University of Vietnam”. Later on, you will arrive at Thang Long Theater for our unique water puppet show, which includes a succession of scenes evoking images of daily life and legends, accompanied by traditional music.
In the evening, you'll have a chance to understand what makes Hanoi's Old Quarter such a captivating place. Here, you will be able to taste a wide variety of Vietnamese specialties, such as banh cuon (steamed rolled rice pancake) and banh mi (Vietnamese baguette). Then, stop at a bia hoi (beer club) on Ta Hien Street and taste the fresh Vietnamese beer that is incredibly popular for locals and travelers. After that, you will head to a Pho shop, to try either regular pho or pho tron (pho noodles mixed with chicken without soup). Then, make your way along Hoan Kiem Lake for one of the tastiest ice cream places in Hanoi. You will then say goodbye to your guide and go on to explore Hanoi by night on your own.
Today we will escape all the noises and crowd of big city and allow yourself to explore and live close to local people in the beautiful villages with warm welcome of Muong Ethnic village in West of Hanoi. Our tour guide will pick up you and we will drive toward the hillside of Hanoi. Your first host is a veteran in Vietnam War and the owner of a large tea farm. You will have great time listening to the host’s stories and enjoying some tea with green lentils or lotus seeds that made by his family. Then you visit the 30-year-old tea plantation in Ri Village, which plays an important role of providing tea products for the whole north of Vietnam. You will also have a chance to help local family to harvest tea leaves.
After another short drive, you will arrive at your second host family and help them prepare lunch. The host will show you how to cook Vietnamese food, and you will enjoy lunch with the food you made afterwards. Then you have time to walk (or cycle) around the village to explore local culture and you will visit the local workshops. You'll have time to learn more about daily life of local people and interact with them. Travel back to Hanoi in the late afternoon and arrive at hotel near train station for your relax.
In the evening, we will take you to Hanoi railway station for overnight train to Lao Cai which departs around at 21.30.
Upon arrival at Lao Cai Station around 5.00 am, you will met by your guide. Breakfast will be served at local restaurant. Depart for Bac Ha Market, not merely a place to buy and sell, but common ground for people of different ethnicities to meet, and a place for youths to congregate. Then, head to your homestay in Sapa. If time permits, we will make a stop at Thai Giang Pho village of flower Hmong people for short visiting. Local children will follow you everywhere you go, giving you a chance to explore the reality of life for the ethnic minority people in the mountains of Vietnam.
Head to your home stay in Sapa. Lunch at local restaurant.
Walk from Sapa towards Muong Hoa valley, home to magnificent landscapes and the Black H’mong tribe. Trek across a suspension bridge towards the villages of Zay and Giang Ta Chai, of the Red Dzao minority group. Afterward, return to Sapa Town and free at leisure to relax.
The morning is free at your leisure, look for some souvenirs or enjoy a traditional herbal bath and a massage (with fee). In the afternoon, you'll travel back to Victoria Sapa resort by a private car and return to your hotel in Hanoi by shared shuttle limousine. You'll arrive in Hanoi in the evening.
You will head off today in the direction of Hai Phong to the Got Ferry Terminal - Cat Hai township, arriving at the end of the morning. Upon arrival, you will travel by tender boat to the Orchid Cruise to discover a different route to Halong Bay from Hai Phong. At lunch time, the cruise boat will set off to Da Chong Islet to where you will see a lighthouse built by the French. You will then sail to Con Vit and Gia Luan islets which are impressive limestone karst formations rising straight up out of the sea. Later, you will take a bus to explore the Trung Tang Cave located in a beautiful valley. The cruise continues through to Cat Ba island and Lan Ha Bay. You will have time to enjoy the sunset as well as the chance to join a traditional cooking class with the chef before dinner.
After breakfast on board, there will be some time to relax and cruise on the bay. Then, head back to Hanoi, passing a vast expanse of rice fields in the Red River Delta. The rest of the day is free at your leisure.
You are free at your leisure until it’s time for your transfer to the airport. Have a safe return trip, we hope to see you again!

After much online research we opted for a 12 day personal tour of Vietnam offered by Exotic Voyages. Our travel coordinator was Hoa Tran and we could not have been more pleased. ...our trip included Hanoi, Mai Chau, Han La Bay, Hoi An, Saigon and Mekong Delta. We let Hoa know what type of travelers we were and what we would like to see and do; she took it from there and arranged a wonderful trip for us. Her personal recommendations/suggestions made our trip even more special. We has an opportunity to take cooking classes, meet several local families and truly experience Vietnamese culture. Our entire trip was arranged online and any questions/concerns were answered promptly. Our hotels were lovely, tours fun and exciting and our guides/drivers knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend paying a little extra for the Visa expediting upon arrival...this made our entry smooth and fast. We especially loved the cruise of Han La Bay overnight from Heritage Cruise Lines and the Vietnam By Scooters Food Tour in Saigon. Not to be missed. Thank you Exotic Voyages, we look foward to our next journey to South East Asia.READ MORE

Tran Thuy (Judy), Exotic Voyages organized our 7-week tour of Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos & Cambodia. She was so attentive to our every request. She followed our stated budget, made many changes to our itinerary (5 drafts) before issuing a detailed itinerary with all important details, contacts, times etc. etc. Even after we paid the full payment, she was quick to respond to any concerns we had. In addition, when we arrived at each destination, we received a letter indicating what times we would be picked up for various tours or to go to the airport. Evaluations were done throughout the journey and we were always met by someone at least 15 minutes prior to our pick-up time. It was so comforting to be met at the airport in-spite of numerous airplane delays. The guides all expressed how happy they were to work for Exotic Voyages. Special mention to some of the outstanding guides - Tukta in Thailand (did so many extra things for us - above and beyond her duties - very caring and made accommodations for us as needed); Mr. Thong in Lao, Mr. Buu, Hoi An, Sherry in Kaula Lumpur, Miss Pitsamai Lurthoo in Thailand. All the drivers were simply outstanding - always calm in-spite of difficult traffic conditions. We took 3 cooking sessions and they not only provided us with great food and how to prepare it but provided us with an opportunity to get to know the day to day experiences of the locals. To us this is what travel is all about - getting to know the locals. This was a journey of a lifetime. We would recommend Exotic Voyages highly and are very grateful to Thuy and the whole team for their efforts. We were provided with 24/7 emergency contacts for each country - we contact Mr. Mark in Thailand and he was so calm and reassuring in sorting out our problem.READ MORE
