Pakbeng

Pakbeng is a small but amazing village in the Oudomxay province of Laos, which is one of the highlights in your discovery of  Northern Laos.  This village is half way from Houeixay to Luang Prabang, a mixing point for local hill tribes including H'mong, Lue, Khamou, and others. At this idyllic place in Laos, you can see the traditional life of the locals, be inspired by their peaceful and simple life. Many people of Pakbeng are fishermen. It is a quiet place for relaxing for a day or 2 …, where you can feel the spirit of the Mekong River. Here, the picture of frank and friendly Laotians is depicted vividly, where you can’t help feeling excited to explore and learn its unique local culture. There could be a morning devoted to the discovery of the Mekong Elephant Camp when you cross the Mekong River to attend a show of elephant bathing. Strangely but truly amazing Southeast Asia is showing up before you, which you just can’t forget after your trip. You will try to ride an elephant for the first time, about two hours through ethnic villages still off most travel routes. Afternoons are time for a relaxed pause to enjoy a magnificent view of the Mekong from your private balconies of a local eco-lodge.
