“It’s the complete package!”

I can’t recommend Exotic Voyages highly enough. I have just returned from Myanmar with a friend. From the moment we decided to use Exotic Voyages, nothing was too much trouble for Mai Phuong who was organizing our trip.

Having read reviews on TA and done some research of my own, I wanted to add a couple of destinations to the ‘Magical Myanmar’ tour. This was no trouble at all. When Mai Phuong emailed me the itinerary and I was able to research the hotels we would be staying in, I asked that the Inle Princess Resort at Inle Lake be substituted for the hotel the company had nominated. Again, no trouble. Over several months, Mai Phuong persevered in liaising with the resort to secure us a lake front villa. A few days before we left Australia we added added a balloon ride over Bagan. I had been a little nervous but was convinced that it would be an extraordinary experience. Again, Mai Phuong organized it quickly and efficiently.

Our ‘on the ground’ experience was faultless. The guides that the company used were outstanding. We had four guides over our 18 days and each one of them was knowledgeable and able to impart this knowledge in an interesting and relaxed manner, which is not always the case. The vehicles were comfortable and the drivers safe and cautious. On one occasion when we couldn’t locate our seatbelts as they were wedged firmly under and behind the seat, this was rectified immediately. There is a plethora of domestic airlines in Myanmar and an accident at Heho airport a couple of years ago was at the back of our minds! We needn’t have worried. The airline that Exotic Voyages uses, KBZ, is first class. The planes were new and the service excellent. We were very pleased with the hotels chosen. In Yangon we stayed at the Kandawgi Palace Hotel which is quite close to the Shwedagon Padoga. In Kalaw we stayed at the Hill Top Resort. This was 3 star rather than 4 as the alternative was booked out. We liked it’s quirkiness and didn’t mind the fact that it was a little out of town and had a bird’s eye view of the town below. In Mandalay the Mandalay Hill Resort was excellent and in Pyin Oo Lwin the Pyin Oo Lwin Hotel was extremely comfortable. I mentioned the Inle Princess Resort as being our choice and we were not disappointed. The Hotel @ Tharabar gate in Bagan provided a cool oasis in this fascinating but hot and dusty town. In Ngapali Beach we stayed at the Amata Resort and Spa, a perfect place to relax before we had to go home. That showed how committed the company is to ensuring that their clients have the best possible experience.

One huge benefit of using a company which caters to couples and small groups, as opposed to larger groups, is that you have flexibility to change plans to suit yourself or to include an activity that the guide suggests.

We are planning a trip to Sri Lanka later this year and without hesitation I will be using this company to oragnise that trip too.
