My mom, dad, brother, 10 year old niece and I spent 12 days traveling throughout Vietnam: Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh and the Mekong Delta. Thuy from Exotic Voyages arranged a spectacular itinerary, she ensured that my parents, who are in the early 80's with their special diet limitations and my niece, who has just recently started traveling, have a trip of a lifetime. Thuy was quick and complete in responding via email, text, whatsapp and phone calls. Rest assured you will be in good hands.
Our local tour guide in Hanoi, Zan, was very caring and dear. He would hold my mom's hand to cross the moped filled streets. He fulfilled every request we had. Evening street food walk was excellent - great first day experience.
Our local tour guide for Hue, Hoi An, and Hai Van Pass, Andy, was very knowledgable and he had the answer to every historical question we had. Moreover, my mom had a toothache while on the trip and he took us to a great dentist that filled her tooth in no time, plus he took us to a pharmacy when we weren't feeling well. He went beyond what a great tour guide does. When we departed from him it felt that we were leaving a family member - we were all sad to say goodbye.
Our final guide, Thai, was just as kind, knowledgable and truly cared that we had a good time. Never once did we feel unsafe or want to change anything on our itinerary. Our internal Vietnam Air flights were no frills, but were on - time and representatives were very courtesy. Our tour guides ensured that we got our flights on time and were always there to pick us up.
Exotic Voyages arranged our visas which took a load off me as I didn't have to worry about getting the appropriate visas for my family. We paid the trip upfront via wire transfers to save on the credit card fees, it was issue-free on my side and theirs.
Every hotel lodging (Lapis Hotel, Alba Spa Hotel, Era Cruise, Little Hoi An Beach Hotel, and Liberty Central Saigon City Point, the latter hotel was in the city center and treated us special with free tea / coffee hour, happy hour treats and laundry service) offered great service and meals. Most had pools, spas and gyms, which we tried to enjoy as well.
The hotel breakfast buffets were delicious, complete with western and local cuisine. The day trips (riding bicycles through the rice fields/herb villages, Hoi An sunset river boat ride, and the CaiBe Princess Mekong river trip) were all excellent. Highlights of the trip were Halong Bay Era Cruise experience, the local meals that we enjoyed in traditional homes as well as the street food - scooter riding experience in Ho Chi Minh. It rained on our scooter ride, however George, from the scooter company assured that we would all be safe and that we would love the food planned for that evening (if we didn't feel safe, his company offered to take us to the restaurants in a car). We scootered around for 3 hours or so and we were all thrilled to have gotten on the scooters - we loved it and my 80+ year old parents which hadn't ridden on a scooter in more than 50 years were so pleased to have participated. My niece was equally as thrilled. We felt part of the Vietnamese culture.
Exotic Voyages, you have a great team of professionals, starting with Thuy. Please thank Zan, Andy, Thai, George and scooter drivers, as they are all truly wonderful and kind individuals. We are honored to have met them.
